The 11th Annual Gathering for the Grand Gala Fundraiser

Grease is the Word

San Pedro, CA (04/25/20)―Grand Vision Foundation presents the eleventh annual Gathering for the Grand on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.  The annual character-themed gala raises critical funds for ongoing restoration of the historic Warner Grand Theatre, the cultural hub of the area’s economic revitalization, as well as youth music programs for underserved youth in San Pedro and Wilmington.

This year, the event is taking its inspiration from the contemporary 1950s teen-age musical fantasy “Grease” starring John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John and Stockard Channing. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1950s cocktail attire, pink ladies or greaser fashion; black tie is optional.

“We are grateful to our sponsors and supporters who share our grand vision: revitalizing our community through the arts, saving the Warner Grand Theatre, and teaching our local public school youth to appreciate and play music,” Liz Schindler-Johnson, Executive Director of Grand Vision Foundation.

After being on hiatus for the year 2019, Gathering for the Grand will return to the Palos Verdes Golf Club. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Warner Grand Theatre and the production of high quality artistic events and youth programs at the Warner Grand and the Grand Annex.  The event will also benefit Grand Vision’s Meet the Music program, which serves over 1,800 local elementary students at Title I schools in San Pedro and across the South Bay.

Each year, Grand Vision Foundation honors a community leader who actively supports community revitalization through the arts. This year’s honoree, Gary Bettis and Bettis Insurance, has been a long-term supporter of GVF since the early days of its inception.

The annual event includes a generous dinner, live music and dancing, and exciting Silent and Live auctions. Tickets are $180 before December 6 and $190 after. Glamorous 1950s fashion attire is encouraged but not required to attend the event. Tickets can be purchased online at www.grandvision.org or by calling the Grand Vision office at 310-833-4813. Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are also available, call Liz for sponsorship information.
