The "Grand Chairs" & Their Artists

The inspiration for my chair is a key landmark in San Pedro, the Korean Bell. I spent time at the bell, looking at the colors, patterns and shapes. Then off to find the 'perfect' chair. An antique store across from the Warner Grand produced a chair resembling Edith Bunker's famous chair. I took it home, fell in love with it and thus, went looking for another chair. I found two chairs at the Goodwill Store in Torrance, and same thing, fell in love and could not alter them in any way. Then, a different Goodwill store turned up the perfect chair with positive and negative spaces just right for mosaic embellishment.

I received a BFA from Art Center College of Design in Illustration. I worked in the graphic arts for most of my career. I love working with patterns and thus, my favorite form of expression is mosaics and quilting. I am currently Curator of a temporary museum at Congregation Ner Tamid in Rancho Palos Verdes, entitled "Celebrating 350 Years of Judaism in America."

I have lived in the South Bay for over 30 years. My inspiration and support system are my husband Leon and two children, Kara and Danny.
