The "Grand Chairs" & Their Artists

I am an experimental artist as can be seen in my current body work. I work primarily in mixed media on paper or canvas, using acrylic, ink, crayon, watercolor and collage. I have recently delved into "altered art" using books and other ordinary items as supports for collage, stamping and embellishments. So it was with great enthusiasm I welcomed the challenge of decorating an Art Chair for the Warner Grand Save Your Seat Campaign. And a challenge it has been!

My paintings usually start out with one idea or plan and then quickly take on a life of their own. Such it was with the chair. I started with the idea of creating a court jester, and as things progressed, the chair grew into a Carnivale Mask, embellished with "stuff " from my collection of collage materials.

What fun it has been, having no limitations or formulas to follow, no rules or composition or design, and let the creative juices flow!

A graduate from California State University Long Beach, I have studied with Gerry Willging, Ruth Eyrich, Frank Minuto, and Betsy Dillard Stroud. I have also studied at Art in the Mountain with Pat Dews and served as Artist in Residence at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. I have participated in several solo and group exhibitions and was awarded First Place and Member's award in the Torrance Artist Guild annual show, 2002. I am an active member in South Bay Watercolor Society, Palos Verdes Art Center, National Collage Society, and Paletteers.

I work out of Studio 345 in San Pedro and my work can be viewed at every First Thursday Art Walk or by appointment.
