“She plays the mandolin with a degree of refined elegance and freedom that few have achieved,” says Bela Fleck, the genre-leaping banjo master, “And now her vocals and songwriting have matured to the level of her virtuosity.”

Hull came to bluegrass as a true teen prodigy. Alison Krauss called her to the Grand Ole Opry stage when Hull was 11-years-old. Two years later, she signed with Rounder Records. Now at age 22, Sierra Hull has already played the White House, and Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center, and she became the first bluegrass musician to receive a Presidential Scholarship at the Berklee College of Music.

For the past 8 consecutive years, she has been listed among the top 5 nominees for Mandolin Player of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards.

Her newly released album, Weighted Mind produced by Bela Fleck is rooted in bluegrass yet takes the listener to a territory of musical fusion. The final product includes Fleck’s banjo and Krauss, Abigail Washburn and Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops) enchanting harmonies.

Hull is making her mark as a remarkable mandolin player, a tone-true vocalist, and a recording artist of high order.
