STANDING IN THE SHADOW OF MOTOWN (2002)

Warner Grand Theatre
Friday, November 8, 2013
8:00 PM

Paul Justman's 2002 documentary, based on Allan Slutsky's book of the same name gives center stage to The Funk Brothers, the little known session musicians of Detroit’s original Motown recordings.  Considered one of the most successful groups of studio musicians in music history, the group backed most Motown recordings from 1959 until the company moved to Los Angeles in 1972.  They’re sound is immortalized on hits such as "My Girl", "I Heard It Through the Grapevine", "Baby Love", "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", and many more.
